Heather Johnston is a Vancouver-based artist whose work is deeply rooted in her hometown. She earned her master’s degree in photography from the Royal College of Art in London, England. In her practice, Heather crafts a distinctly painterly quality within her photographs, layering textures and tones to illuminate the subtle beauty and complexity of her subjects. Drawn to the elegance of the natural world and the mysteries it holds, she explores these ideas through diverse motifs—particularly botanicals and flora she tends in her own garden, discovers in gardens across the globe, and encounters flourishing in the wild.
